August 20, 2019 – New York, NY – SSAM ADR, an award-winning dispute resolution firm, welcomes John R. Camillo to our panel of mediators and arbitrators.
John Camillo, Esq. brings a unique perspective as a mediator/arbitrator having had the benefit of working in both a corporate and legal role for major insurance and international companies. Mr. Camillo brings 46 years of professional experience as an attorney, executive and strategic advisor in the domestic and global insurance and regulatory sectors. Immediately prior to becoming a full-time mediator and arbitrator with SSAM, Mr. Camillo was a well-known Senior Vice President of Government Relations for a leading insurance company.
Mr. Camillo was raised and educated in the Bronx and Manhattan. He graduated # 1 in his class at Fordham University College of Business Administration and served as a Law Review Editor at Fordham Law School. Mr. Camillo began his legal career as a litigator for the prestigious Wall Street law firm of Hughes, Hubbard & Reed and then went to work for several other prominent New York law firms. In these various roles, Mr. Camillo developed expertise resolving personal injury, premises, products, motor vehicle, construction, commercial, and insurance coverage disputes. As a litigator, Mr. Camillo recognized the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution as an indispensable method of quickly and cost effectively moving cases to resolution for clients.
Mr. Camillo also worked for J.C. Penney Company, Inc. as Managing Attorney and head of its Litigation Department where he was publicly recognized for bringing all of JC Penney’s litigation work in-house. Mr. Camillo garnered a reputation for being fair, reasonable, and approachable, and was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Counsel of JC Penney’s Insurance Division.
Mr. Camillo is “hands on”, “hard working, “even handed” and draws upon his many years of experience when mediating and arbitrating in the private ADR Forum. His goal is to find the best compromise that empowers each of the parties to resolve their differences in order to achieve a mutually beneficial solution.
